DisplayPort 2.0 (DP v2.0). Capable of pushing 80Gbps compared to DisplayPort 1.4a which only achieves 25.92Gbps.
The most important factor with resolutions supported via DisplayPort 2.0 is if your signal is compressed or uncompressed. Uncompressed displays are supported more with currently hardware but offer a lower colour range (BPC) Compressed images offer a higher resolution however your hardware will need to support DSC compression to be supported.
Single Screen Setups: DP 2.0 handles up to 15360 x 8460 resolutions which is 16K with HDR at 60Hz however current hardware setups are restricted so will need to support DSC1.2a display stream compression rates to push this high pixel count this will avoid any pixel loss across the compression rate supported.
DisplayPort 2.0 also supports a 10240 x 4320 (10K) resolution without HDR at 80Hz and up to 24 bpp (Colour). This single-screen resolution does not require compression.
