Marking the 10th limited edition series to be manufactured by British watchmaker, Bremont, the exquisite Bremont Hawking collection commemorates the life and work of Professor Stephen Hawking. This 41mm steel version, limited to just 388 pieces worldwide, was designed in collaboration with the Hawking family to ensure a personal and poignant design ethos was met. The watch, like all Bremont limited edition watches, incorporates a real slice of history into its design, An original piece of antique wood taken from a desk inherited by Stephen Hawking from his late grandmother joins a special hand decorated caseback. The stars, as seen in the night sky above Oxford on the night of Hawking’s birth on 8th January 1942 are reflected in the intricate etchings on the back of the case. The unique serial number of each Bremont Hawking watch is stamped onto an original seminal research paper co-written by Stephen Hawking in 1979 named “The ‘nuts’ and ‘bolts’ of gravity”. A matte black dial forms the background to this Bremont Hawking display, swirled for a “black hole” effect. A silvered retrograde small second dial is beautifully balanced by a grand date aperture at 12 o’clock and the watch is powered by the modified calibre 11 1/2’’’ BE-33-AE which provides a 42-hour power reserve whilst sealed inside Bremont’s patented Trip-Tick construction. The 100-meter water resistant steel Bremont Hawking limited edition is finished on a black alligator leather strap with traditional pin-style buckle.
