These are the famous Portuguese worker boots, well know by its robustness. The skin is treated with natural tallow making these footwear waterproof. We suggest that you keep applying natural tallow or beeswax to keep them waterproof and nurture the leather. The insoles are also made out of leather. When it comes to choose your size, there are no differentiation between men's and women's sizes in the European shoe size system. For example: a size 41 is the same for a woman or for a man. The European shoe size system is unisex. These boots are Goodyear welted allowing the boots to be resoled if needed. What is a Goodyear welt? A Goodyear welt is a strip of leather that is sewn around the bottom edge of a shoe, attached to both the insole and the upper. The result is highly valued for being relatively waterproof by minimizing water penetration into the insole. The welt can then be easily unstitched, which thus detaches the sole without damaging the rest of the shoe, meaning it can be replaced time and time again as it is worn down. These boots are handmade using sustainable leather and the colour may vary slightly in every single pair. They are a bit stiff to start with but after a few days of use the leather starts to smooth and eventually turns very flexible. We suggest that in the first days of use you don't go for a long walk. Use them for short periods of time until the leather has smoothed enough. If you are not complete satisfied with the size we will swap them for you. If they are not your thing, no problem, return them to us and we will issue a refund.
