Robert Sorby 3/4" Spindle Roughing Gouge - Unhandled, Sovereign Compatible - 843.3/4 Key Features: Recommended for the initial turning of un-even of square stock to round. The shape of the roughing-out gouge enables the tool to cut safely with the wings (the name given to the tips of the side walls) well back from the workpiece. Roughing gouges must not be used on bowl projects. These tools have a deep flute grind. Many turners prefer to turn their tool handles to their own specifications. For those turners we offer here the un-handled version of Sorby's standard Spindle Gouge blade. These High Speed Steel (HSS) un-handled blades are identical to the ones found on the handled versions. The blade listed here will also fit the Sorby Sovereign System Handles. A Collet Adapter may be required if used with the Sovereign System. Check your manual for the size collet required if, any.
