Elderflower is a traditional accompaniment to
gooseberry and produces a preserve with a subtly different flavour
from gooseberry alone. The flower heads are foraged in June and
washed before the small white flowers are added to the gooseberries
at the beginning of cooking. When cooked green gooseberries and
elderflowers will produce a pink coloured preserve that darkens in
the jar over time. Gooseberry and elderflower is a lovely sharp
flavoured jam - summer on a spoon! About the Producer Jam Packed
Preserves is a small family-run business specialising in luxury,
British preserves to the highest standards, but believe these
shouldn't cost the Earth. Here at Jam Packed Preserves we don't
like food waste. That's how we got started. We had a surplus of
fruit from our allotment, and after getting the family recipe from
Grandma, the first jar of raspberry jam was made. We source the
best quality ingredients from British growers whenever possible. We
don't just do this because we believe in supporting our
communities, but it also reduces food miles, making it a much more
sustainable choice.
