'Tonn Mor' Navy Strength Gin by Wild Thyme Spirits 50cl 57%
ABV - Colonsay Gin
Brand: Colonsay Gin
In Celtic folklore every house had a Brownie or
Spirit, or in Gaelic, an Uruisg {oor-isk} to help with household
chores. They became attached to particular estates, with whom they
stayed for centuries. But from the island of Colonsay, tales of a
something different began to emerge, tales of alchemy, tales of
ALVA, a delightful, red-haired maiden, a very special Brownie with
supernatural powers, a Gruagach {groo-ah-gak}. She somehow survived
when her Viking long boat was smashed against Colonsay’s
unforgiving rocks by a Tonn Mor or huge wave. She stumbled ashore
and took shelter at Tigh na Uruisg {tee-na-oor-isk}, or home of the
spirits, where she remains to this day. With an alchemist’s
delicate touch, she transforms humble botanicals into gin. Not many
get to see her beauty, but all get to taste her fabulous gin. Tonn
Mor is our version of a Navy Strength Gin, for the juniper lovers
and gin collectors out there, it’s full of flavour and packs an
alcoholic punch at 57% ABV. It makes a fabulous base for many
cocktails or best served as a G &T over ice with Premium tonic
and a garnish of either a twist of orange zest or a slice of green
chilli. About the Producer In August 2016, husband and wife team,
Finlay and Eileen Geekie, packed up all their worldly possessions,
left behind the hustle and bustle of Oxfordshire, where they’d
lived for over 30 years, and moved to their newly completed,
self-build house, to start a new life on the tiny, remote Hebridean
island of Colonsay. Their business provides them with the
opportunity to combine their love of all things gin with their
desire to create a viable future, living and working on this wild
island, and, at the same time, make a significant contribution to
the future sustainability and ongoing development of the local
island economy and community as a whole. You must be at least 18
