Jam Packed Preserves' Carolina reaper Chilli Jam won
one star in the Great Taste Awards 2019. The judges said: There is
the promise of heat here - on the nose never mind the description.
The Reaper does come along with heat but brings a fruitiness with
it that balances along with the sweet caramel note. Rather well
balanced in its intensity. Very well judged consistency. The
sweetness hits first, and it's a very pleasant sweetness. Heat
builds slowly to a crescendo. Certainly a product to use sparingly.
But it does exactly what it sets out to do - a good, fighting
chilli. About the Producer Jam Packed Preserves is a small
family-run business specialising in luxury, British preserves to
the highest standards, but believe these shouldn't cost the Earth.
Here at Jam Packed Preserves we don't like food waste. That's how
we got started. We had a surplus of fruit from our allotment, and
after getting the family recipe from Grandma, the first jar of
raspberry jam was made. We source the best quality ingredients from
British growers whenever possible. We don't just do this because we
believe in supporting our communities, but it also reduces food
miles, making it a much more sustainable choice.
