A fabulous hamper for the wine buff! This is a lovely
collection of six our favourite organic Italian wines and includes
three organic reds (Fatalone, Euganean Hills and Chianti), two
whites (a Tuscan Chardonnay and a Falanghina DOC) and a bottle of
our ever-popular organic, biodynamic, natural Prosecco.. What's
inside: Fatalone Primitivo Riserva 75cl: Fatalone Riserva 2019 is a
DOC wine (100% Primitivo grapes) from the Puglia region of
south-eastern Italy. This fantastic red was awarded both the
prestigious Decanter Bronze prize and Le Corone 2015 ViniBuoni
d'Italia. It is a natural wine, fermented with indigenous yeast and
aged 12 months in stainless steel tanks, 12 months in oak casks and
6 months in bottle. Intense ruby red in colour with slight burgundy
hues, it has a scent typical of very ripe fruits and slightly
toasted wood and spices with some balsamic notes. This Primitivo
goes well with strong flavoured dishes such as pasta with meat
sauce, roast beef, grilled meats, fish and aged cheese. Also
wonderful with dark chocolates. Alcohol: 15%. Vegan. Euganean Hills
DOC 75cl: Deep ruby red in colour with violet hues, this red wine
from the Euganean Hills in Northern Italy is composed of 70% Merlot
and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. Slightly grassy on the nose, it has
shades of red fruit such as currant and raspberry. The taste is
herbaceous with hints of red fruit, round and fruity. Year 2020,
Alcohol 12.5%. Chianti Superiore Poggio ai Grilli 75cl: This
characterful, lively Chianti from the powerful 2018 vintage is a
Gold Medal winner which has been rated one of the best value for
money wine by the UK Sommelier Association. Made from organically
grown, manually harvested sangiovese grapes cultivated in the
province of Arezzo, this wine belongs to the Chianti Colli Aretini
DOCG denomination, one of the 7 Chianti DOCG's appellations. Due to
the vintage, it has significantly more fullness and spice than its
predecessor, and relies on intensity. Made with grapes from old
vineyards and then aged in big oak barrels, this Chianti is a great
red wine with a complex bouquet with hints of cherry, violet and
spices. Full, fruity, smooth, with soft tannins and a long
aftertaste. Year 2019, Alcohol 13.5%. Vegan. Chardonnay Quarto di
Luna 75cl: This is a lovely, elegant and light Tuscan Chardonnay.
It has warm straw-yellow nuances, with sparkling reflections in the
glass and lively presence. Flavourful aromas of pineapple, ripe
peach and passion fruit are rounded by a floral touch and gentle
minerality, overall dry and with a good complexity. Fresh, lively
and soft on the palate with a satisfying clean finish, this is. a
perfect every-day summer white, great as an aperitif wine. Year
2020, Alcohol 13.5%. Vegan. Prosecco Colfondo 75cl: This organic,
bio-dynamic, natural, vegan Prosecco DOC has been made in the
Veneto region of Italy with traditional farming techniques,
completely organic viticulture and very low intervention. Forget
fungicides, pesticides, herbicides on the vines, this wine is pure,
kind to the planet and very possibly better for your health.
Alcohol 10.5% Falanghina Rami DOC Organic 75cl: Falanghina is an
ancient grape, probably imported to the regions of Campania and
Molise by Roman merchants. This golden organic wine has good
acidity and fine, delicate fruity notes and a broad and pleasantly
bitter aftertaste that recalls pomegranate. Perfect with simply
prepared, super-fresh fish dishes, such as grilled anchovies,
chargrilled squid and clams tossed with garlic and pasta. Great too
with pork, seafood pasta dishes and vegetable and tomato sauces.
