Loganberry is a hybrid fruit of blackberry and
raspberry and produces a lovely rich red jam that is not quite as
sweet as raspberry and it does contain pips. Many of the
loganberries we use are grown in our garden and are fourth
generation cuttings that have been rooted and passed down the
female line of my family from my great grandmother. Otherwise we
source the fruit from local growers in Sussex. This very popular
preserve is not widely available and the fruit is available in
season during early July. Loganberries have been in very short
supply both in 2020 and again in 2021. We have enough fruit for
about 400 jars this year and when it's gone, it's gone! About the
Producer Jam Packed Preserves is a small family-run business
specialising in luxury, British preserves to the highest standards,
but believe these shouldn't cost the Earth. Here at Jam Packed
Preserves we don't like food waste. That's how we got started. We
had a surplus of fruit from our allotment, and after getting the
family recipe from Grandma, the first jar of raspberry jam was
made. We source the best quality ingredients from British growers
whenever possible. We don't just do this because we believe in
supporting our communities, but it also reduces food miles, making
it a much more sustainable choice.
