This Piedmont wine hamper brings you a taste of this
north-western corner of Italy. Along with Tuscany, Piedmont is
considered to be one of the world’s finest wine regions. It’s the
home of more DOCG wines than any other Italian region including
incredibly renowned, robust reds such as Barolo and Barbaresco made
entirely from the Nebbiolo grape as well as the lighter and more
affordable Dolcetto and Barbera, easy to drink and to enjoy daily
with meals. Piemontese whites (apart from the sweet 'Asti' and
'Moscato') are very elegant and firm and include Arneis and one of
our favourites which we have included 'Gavi'. Our three wines are
carefully packed in a strong hamper box which is tied with a lovely
ribbon. What's inside: Barolo Luigi Bosca DOCG 75cl: Often
described as Italy's greatest wine, Barolo is a red wine produced
in the northern Italian region of Piedmont, specifically in the
Langhe region, an area of steep and rolling hillside vineyards
dotted with small villages. Italy's Barolo wines are powerful and
complex tannic, acidic reds. Barolo is classified as a
'Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita (DOCG)' wine, the
highest classification for Italy's wines which are produced under
strictly controlled growing and production conditions. Barolo
represents the top of Italy's designated wine appellations and one
of its smallest. Luigi Bosca's Barolo is garnet red in colour with
orange shades. Scents are winey, oaky and elegant. The taste is
full-bodied and with an excellent alcohol content, round, rich in
tannins and elegant. Barbera D'Asti Luigi Bosca DOCG 75cl: This
multi-award winning Barbera is ruby red in colour with violet
reflections and hints of red fruits. This is a wine with a great
richness, alcoholic and notable but also with a balanced softness
and a slight tannic presence and a classic acidity of the grapes.
Gavi Le Marne DOCG Organic 75cl: This organic Gavi is cold pressed
thereby retaining all the natural freshness of the grapes. An
elegant and generous wine, this pairs well with all types of fish
and seafood. A pale straw-yellow in colour. On the nose, scents of
stone fruits and lemon zest with smoky hints. On the palate, firm
and lively with a steely acidity and freshness leading to a
