The development process in early development, Lamson realized that the larger the line weight and heavier the reel, the more effective the Center Axis concept would be at creating a more balanced, connected feel when casting. The challenge was how to deal with the considerable forces experienced when fighting a heavy fish. The load path from the fighting butt to the grip needed to be strengthened. Lamson accomplished this by integrating a modular, 3 piece arch into the structure, which efficiently transmits load without flexing.
