The 4mm backer board is designed specifically to provide a strong, level and extremely firm surface. They're ideal for tiling and can be used over our high density EPS overlay heating boards if desired. The advantage of using the backer board as an intermediate layer allows the final floor finish to be removed or replaced in the future without destroying the floor heating system below. When fitting carpets or vinyl as a final floor finish onto EPS heating boards we would recommend a light renovation screed or fixing a ply deck before carpeting. Flexible and easy to handle - simply cut the board to shape where necessary. It can be dry fitted as a floating surface with taped joints or alternatively bonded directly to the floor heating panels.
