2440 x 1220 (8ft x 4ft) WBP Plywood Sheets Medium-density fibreboard (MDF) is an engineered wood product formed by breaking down hardwood or softwood residuals into wood fibres, often in a defibrator, combining it with wax and a resin binder, and forming panels by applying high temperature and pressure. MDF is more dense than plywood. It is made up of separated fibres, (not wood veneers) but can be used as a building material similar in application to plywood. It is stronger and much more dense than normal particle board. MDF sheets are a very versatile product that can be used for many projects such as: • Shopfitting • Exhibition displays • Furniture making • Shelving • Joinery work - window boards, skirtings architraves and the like Unlike real wood, there is no grains or knots to worry about so the boards are very easy to cut and work with. When cutting, the appropriate health and safety equipment must be worn as a lot of dust can be generated. Work areas should also be well ventilated where possible.
