Square Profile Handrail Contemporary Square Profile Base Rail suitable for any 41mm Spindle. Please note, we only list Pine and Oak currently on our website. Square Profile Handrail Measures 58mm High x 58mm Wide Select your timber type and handrail length from the drop down boxes above This handrail can be used with any 41mm x 41mm spindle either on the staircase or across the landing. All Square Profile Rails come complete with fillet strip/ Spindle Spacers used to fill the gap between each spindle. Spindle spacers are fixed in place with a suitable PVA wood adhesive, available in our shop, and can be pinned into place using panel pins. Panel pins should be sunk into the fillet strip of the rail and filled with a wood filler to match the timber. We recommend that spindles and fillet strips are glued into the handrail and base rail using PVA wood adhesive. This will give strength and stop any potential spindle rattle. 90 Degree horizontal handrail bends are not available for this profile however these can be created during installation by cutting a miter in the handrail and forming a 90 degree bend. Fixing Handrail to Newel Post Handrails can be fitted to any design of newel post with a flat face by either a traditional Mortise and Tenon joint or by using our handrail to newel post fixing kits. Rails can also be fitted to a wall as a wall mounted rail by using wall brackets designed to fit on the underside of the rail and then to a wall up the stair well or on a landing Stair Case Building Regulations IMPORTANT - Spindles should not be spaced more than 99mm apart to meet current building regulations Current building Regulations state that a sphere of 100mm in diameter should not be allowed to pass between two spindles Handrail height needs to be a minimum of 900mm. Measure from the floor to the top of the handrail on the landing area and measure from the front of a tread to the top of the handrail on the stairs.
